This class and pattern are for the purpose of giving you a taste of French Sewing by Machine and is not meant to be a totally authentic representation of a pattern from that era. Some modern methods will be included to make sewing your costume easier and faster. This costume can be constructed completely by hand if you wish.
SIZES 39TW is sized to fit the 15 1/2-16" dolls. Included are pattern pieces for Alex, Brenda Starr, Gene (Madra Lord, Violet Waters), Tyler, Eve, the Kingstate dolls, Butterfly Ring dolls, and Clea Bella. 39K fits 18" Kitty and 17" MA Coco, and Emme 39C fits the 19" American Model, 21" Modern Cissy, 19" Vintage Cissy, and the CED dolls
Materials List:
Good quality 100% cotton batiste can be purchased on-line or from specialty shops that carry hand sewing supplies. Some quilt shops also carry cotton batiste.
1 spool of white mercerized cotton covered polyester machine embroidery thread for lightweight fabrics
Coats Dual Duty Plus is recommended
Blouse and Skirt - (batiste)
1/2 yard will be enough for the 16" and 18" sizes.
3/4 yard for the 20" size.
Camisole, Pantalettes, Petticoat - (cotton voile)
1/3 yard for size 16"
1/2 yard for sizes 18" and 20"
Small doll buttons (1/8") - 4
1/4" picot edge cotton lace trim - 2 1/2 yards
3/8"-1/2" cotton inset lace (lace that is straight on both edges) - 2 1/4 yards
1/8" white silk ribbon - 1 yard
1/8" silk ribbon in a pastel color of your choice - 1 yard
