Perfect Pattern Style 105

"1886 Ball Gown"
This pattern is for a ball gown from the late 1880s era. The pointed front strapless bodice is separate from the skirt for ease in fitting and can be paired with a straight skirt or slacks to create a modern fashion. The skirt is in two layers and connected to a waistband. The underskirt has a simple shape slightly gathered at the waist with the attached pleated or gathered lower portion. The overskirt front is made of scalloped edge overall lace and the overskirt back is a gathered pouf over the hips sewn to a slightly gathered train which spreads out to cover the sides and floor. A large bow and streamers are attached under the pouf. Purchased silk or handmade flowers plus silk ribbon bows and streamers accent the shoulders, hip, and hold the center front of the lace overskirt in place.
